Why Are There Zombies?
There's an alternate universe in which this comic contained a joke of some kind, but we don't worry about that so much. This falls pretty easily into the pile of comics that are only there to plumb the depths of the Polytopes universe and explore exactly how everything works. Zombies, for instance. How do zombies work? See above.
Had it not been distracted by the punk Zombietope, Dido probably would have gone on to explain that if you can figure out what the irrational or imaginary number in question is--pi, golden ratio, ln(-3i), what have you--you can divide or multiply or subtract or add or whatever you need to do to get rid of it, and then the disease will presumably stop. Or even be cured! No one knows.
There's a different alternate universe in which I listened to an idea m'lady-friend had about pi-zombies and their fluctuations. It was a decent thought and I probably could have run with it for some golden-ratio zombies with unnerving charisma or something like that, but alas. We already had this all mapped out.
Have you seen the zombies? I think they're pretty damn good. Some links:
- Zombie Cube
- Zombie Octahedron
- Zombie Puppies
- We especially like their humorous faces and the weird tunnel bored through the second one.
- Zombie Dodecahedron Carrying Its Face
- Punk Zombie!
- Its face is on upside-down.
- Zombietopes!
I might make a wallpaper or some icons or something with the Zombietopes, because they're adorable. They'll probably be making a comeback? Well, not probably, but I'd like it if it happened. We return soon to more of the normal antics, if I can remember what any of them are. Might be in for a drought, might not. You never know.
That reminds me! You ask yourself "Where did Dido learn all this about zombies, and math for that matter?" These are good questions. The knowledge and wisdom granted to Dido as official Skot mouthpiece of the strip is cosmic in scale. The only reason Dido doesn't spend more time with the Buddha is because it's basically unnecessary; they're on the same plane. They know what's going on.
Either that or it's those encyclopaedias.
