Some Invention Gone Awry
I couldn't think of a good way to introduce Dido's invention without making a really obvious Sliders reference, so I decided to go the "hang a lantern on it" route. Do you remember Sliders? That show was slick as hell. Let us get back on some Sliders, television networks of America.
I could not for the life of me figure out what form Dido's invention should take. Initially I had conceived of some kind of disembodied dial, like someone had stolen the HORIZ knob off an old television set. Which, now that I think about it, would work just fine for the conception I have built for parallel dimensions. You know how if you have a cube, there are an infinite number of squares stacked on one another inside it? Parallel dimensions/worlds work just like that in Polytopes, except instead you have to imagine that there are an infinite number of four-dimensional spaces stacked up in the five-dimensional multiverse. Or, to put it another way, if there are four axes available, an elevator built to travel along a fifth axis would take you to different worlds, each an impossibly small distance apart from one another.
Anyway, this torus thing is what I came up with. Definitely more in the "arcane artifact" area of design than most of the inventions we've seen so far, but you could say that the torus is symbolically foreshadowing the meeting of the Negatopes. Since they live in a four-dimensional torus. Yes.
Anyway, Dido gets a new beanbag chair! I'm pretty sure Brock is the only one who doesn't have a specific place to sit, now. Even Puppy has a little puppy-bed...there's always the Buddha, but the Buddha can just levitate. It's no big thing.
