Hallo-what?
So I've technically had this in the wings for a while. I have no idea why it's been sitting on my hard drive for so long. I feel sort of bad about this extended plotline thing. I feel like my readers expect more one-shot joke type comics. Here's to experimentation, I guess.
Here we come to terms with a fundamental issue of the Polytopes universe: how much about the world we live in do they know? I'm working on a model similar to that regarding basic physical laws in Polytopes: it should be pretty straightforward, but in the interest of convenience and, well, interest I'm keeping it pretty loose. For instance, doors are supposed to be in the center of a room's face, with one edge of the door along the edge. But this necessarily implies that for all the doors to go to all the rooms as they do, they would all need to be directly touching another door. We don't see this, and I don't care.
For another example, take the first panel of the previous comic. Here Brock, Brock for Pete's sake, clearly has some knowledge of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, the Santa myth, and the seven deadly sins. Yet in this strip we establish that Otto, the most knowledgeable of the Polytopes regarding things generally, has no idea what an encyclopedia is. You could try to explain these things in any number of ways, but I think deep down you'd know they're all bullshit explanations. All my inconsistencies will melt into a cohesive patchwork thing, just you wait and see!
